How To Get Found On Google

Updated: Sep 24, 2019

On of the more important things to do when starting out your journey into digital marketing is making sure you get found on google- the largest and most used search engine out there. Here are 7 important steps to make sure you get found on Google.

1.Submit your URL to google

Submit your website to Google. That way, you can accelerate the indexing process of your website, and inform Google about any important updates. You can use Google Search Console to get your website to be indexed on Google. Also, here’s a useful article on how to submit your website to google. http://bit.ly/2MPRCoz

2. Google Ads

The good ol’ pay per click. You set up a list of relevant keywords related to your business, create Ads that will appear whenever someone searches for your keywords and you pay an amount according to how many clicks your Ad received. With Google’s improved search algorithm, Google Ads can be a cost effective way to reach large audiences and convert sales from people who are already searching for the products or services you provide.1 Of course with Google Ads, as with many paid things, the more you pay, the more likely you will be to appear on people’s search results. However, you don’t need to break the bank or match the recommended bidding price for the keywords to get results. You can be smart with the keywords you use and the structure of your Ad.

3.Create updated, relevant and interesting content

To have a high ranking in organic search (visitors that land on your website as a result of unpaid “organic” search results), your website must contain updated, relevant and interesting content.

Before, companies relied on random link-building to improve organic search results. This means that they would make tons of links just for links’ sake, but the content in the landing pages was not relevant or engaging. The Google algorithm is changing and improving constantly. Now Google can tell if the content in your site is good content or not because it will measure how many people stayed on your site to read what you have to say and shared your content. So the content needs to be engaging and not just featuring keywords.

Your content is what the search engine crawls, or searches through, to find these keywords and deliver the right results to search engine users.

Content is known as an on-page SEO factor, meaning that it is something you do on your site to boost your search engine optimisation. Google considers great content one of its top 3 ranking factors, so it’s vital that businesses invest in producing and publishing great content on a regular basis.2

When it comes to content, many of the top search engine results are articles, landing pages or blogs with over 2,000 words.

Make your content easy to read, recent, and relevant and Google will make sure you are on the top of the list.

By looking at the most common words used in your content, titles, and meta tags, Google can understand what your business is about and show it in relevant search results. It shouldn’t feel forced but rather use keywords naturally throughout the content.

For example, if your business is a automobile garage or repair shop, use keywords like: car repair Dubai, car service, best garage in Dubai, auto repair. Just try to think of what people will type into the Google Search bar to find companies like yours. Make sure to include those keywords in your website content to improve organic search and make a list of the 15 most relevant keywords to your business to use in Google Ads. Keywords can be a set of words each like “best auto repair”.

5 Be Mobile Friendly

According to official Google statements, more than 50% of search queries globally now come from mobile devices. All your content should be mobile optimised to ensure you don’t lose traffic from people using their phones or tablets. Most website building platforms nowadays come with mobile optimisation options.

Check out your website in mobile. Does it look good? Are all the basic functions working properly? If not, you may need to look into mobile optimisation.

6.Implement SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

Many people don’t understand what SEO is, or think SEO is highly complex technical speak by marketing people who want to sound fancy. SEO is basically making sure your digital content is good and able to be easily found by search engines. The sites that rank at the top of the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) offer timely and relevant content and are SEO optimised.

One major signal you can send that your website is worthy of its SERP love is filling out your website’s meta tags. These are the elements that make up a web page’s listing on Google.

The blue lettering is the meta title or SEO title, and the short text in black beneath it is called the meta description. This text doesn’t actually show up on your website, but picking out clear and concise wording for these labels is critical for convincing web browsers that yours is the link to click. 3

Get the best SEO results by checking that your On Page SEO and Off Page SEO are on point.

On page SEO: optimising content and elements on your website like: good content writing, keyword optimisation, images, page speed, etc.

Off Page SEO: activities that drive awareness and traffic to your site from other sites like: social media, blogging, link building, etc.

7.Look At Your Competition

Most of the time you don’t need to re-invent the wheel. Before scratching your head to try and figure out how start doing all of the things mentioned above, check out your biggest competition or the industry leader. They will have some good examples of what can be effective when it comes to improving Google Search results.

If someone is at the top of Google Search results it’s because their did something right. Have a look at their website, their Google Ads, their social media and more to see how they got to the top spot.

With new content being added to the web at a breakneck speed, and Google always updating their filing system in response, there’s always the potential for new trends to emerge, to make sure you try and keep up with what are the new things will help your website reach the top of Google Search Results.
